Welcome to our branch

Welcome to the CIPD Branch in the Isle of Man. Thank you for visiting our page.

I am Katie Hellowell, Assoc CIPD, Branch Chair and head of a people operations team in the financial services industry. Experience in different industries has shaped my career and stoked my desire to champion the people profession as an essential function within any organisation. I am keen to support others who work in the people profession too, especially within our small island community.

Our committee comprises volunteer people professionals with a range of experience. Some members run their own consultancies, some work in different industries in the private sector, and others are employed in the public sector or internationally and utilise that experience to strengthen the skills and knowledge of the people profession locally.

Our committee is focused on initiating more events to foster better communication, knowledge sharing, and continuing professional development opportunities. Our top priorities are raising the profile of the branch and CIPD and providing more networking opportunities.

We look forward to seeing you at our events and should you have any proposals for future events, please do get in touch

Get involved

Our branch comprises a diverse range of People Professionals with a vast array of skills and experiences to share. We want to build a people-focused, friendly branch which represents and supports the unique island community we are working in.

Having listened to post-event feedback and examined the number of attendees at events in recent years, we now usually hold lunchtime events in central Douglas. Subjects covered in the last year include the use of AI, coaching for development, proposed Isle of Man employment law changes and wellbeing at work.

We're working towards providing greater input into public policy agendas which affect our working lives, as well as enhancing the credibility of the People profession.

If you are a CIPD member and would like to get more involved with the branch, whether it be support for the committee, delivering an event, suggesting a topic to cover or inviting new members, please get in touch.

Networking and learning

With workshops, round tables, panel discussions and expert speakers, our thought-provoking events cover everything our community needs. Network, learn and stay up to date.
