Essential points

  • Employees do not have a right to flexible working but they do have a right to make a flexible working request (for example, to change their hours or place of work). From 6 April 2024, this is a day-one right.
  • From 6 April 2024, employees in Great Britain will have a right to make two flexible working requests a year.
  • From April 2024, employers must respond to requests within two months.
